Client Testimonials

When I first started “Letters by Reesi”, I thought being “an authority” in my niche meant having perfect branding, and sounding like I knew everything.

Whew. I’m glad that I quickly learnt that authority isn’t about pretending to have it all together. It’s about being trusted and remembered because you show up with real value, time and time again.

And as minority women entrepreneurs, we already have to work twice as hard to be taken seriously in certain rooms. That’s the unspoken truth. But here’s the good news, when you intentionally build your industry authority, you stop waiting for validation and start leading with conviction. People don’t just see you; they listen to you.

So let’s talk about it, sis. If you’re ready to stop blending in and start standing out as the go-to expert in your field, here are five ways to build industry authority in your niche and how I learned to do it, one intentional step at a time.

1. Own Your Story and Your Specific Lane

Your lane is your leverage. One of the biggest mistakes I made early on was trying to sound like everyone else in my industry. I mimicked their tone, their offers, even their captions, thinking it would help me “fit in.” But what it really did was water down my unique message.

Your audience connects with you. Your journey, your lessons, your way of doing things. That’s what makes you unforgettable.

When I started sharing how I built an agency from scratch, led a team of Black women, and learned systems through trial and error, people leaned in. They didn’t just want my service; they wanted my perspective.

Here’s your reminder: stop hiding your path because it doesn’t look like everyone else’s. That’s the very thing that sets you apart and it’s the foundation for building authority that lasts.

2. Teach What You Know (Even If You Think It’s Basic)

Authority comes from sharing knowledge, not hoarding it. You’d be surprised how many women I coach who say, “But Reesi, everyone already knows that!” And I always respond “they don’t.” Even if they’ve heard it, they haven’t heard it from you.

I built so much credibility simply by teaching what I already knew, how to create better content systems, how to communicate online with confidence, and how to show up consistently even when life gets loud.

When I shared what I knew, through Reels, blogs, or workshops, people started associating me with results. They begin to trust my expertise.

👉🏾 Action step: Create one piece of educational content per week that directly solves a small problem for your audience. Be generous with your knowledge. It always circles back.

3. Be Consistent in Message and Presence

Let’s be honest: showing up once a month won’t cut it. Building industry authority means people see you consistently. But consistency isn’t about posting daily or being everywhere. It’s about showing up in alignment with your message.

When someone lands on your page or hears your name, they should instantly know what you’re about. For me, that means creating digital products and coaching women in my Profitability Mentorship Program. I say it, I post about it, I teach it and that repetition builds authority over time.

The Profitability & Stewardship Mentorship Program helps you price your services right, protect your time like the boss you are, steward your resources wisely and build a business model that actually works for your life

You don’t have to keep grinding alone. This is your sign to build smarter, not harder.

4. Get Featured and Collaborate

Want to build industry authority faster? Step outside your own platform. Period.

When you share your voice in new spaces, podcasts, online panels, guest blogs, partnerships, you reach new audiences and position yourself as someone others trust enough to invite in.

I can trace some of my biggest client opportunities back to a simple collaboration, doing an Instagram Live with another Black woman founder or being featured in her email newsletter. Authority multiplies when other people start mentioning your name in rooms you haven’t entered yet.

And here’s the thing, you don’t have to wait until you “arrive” to collaborate. Start now. Pitch your story. Offer your insight. You don’t need 10K followers to be credible. You need proof that you show up and deliver value.

👉🏾 Action step: Make a list of 5 people or platforms in your niche where you’d love to be featured. Reach out this month ,even if it’s just one. Collaboration builds visibility and credibility.

5. Invest in Your Brand and Back It With Results

Authority without structure fades fast. You can have all the passion in the world, but if your brand doesn’t look, sound, and feel like the authority you’re becoming, it’ll hold you back.

When I finally invested in my visuals, systems, and messaging through Letters by Reesi, everything changed. I wasn’t just posting content; I was communicating with intention. My emails had structure. My offers were clear. My digital presence matched my expertise and that alignment built trust before I ever got on a call.

But here’s the real key: authority doesn’t come from appearance alone. It comes from results. When your clients get real wins, when your work speaks louder than your words, that’s what turns your name into a brand.

Action step: Review your testimonials and case studies. Showcase your wins publicly. If your work is helping people, make sure the world knows it.

The Real Secret: You Don’t Need Permission to Be an Authority

Let me keep it all the way real with you. No one is going to tap you on the shoulder and say, “You’re the expert now.” You decide that. Authority begins the day you stop waiting for validation and start walking in your value.

You have a message that matters, a skill that solves problems, and a story that needs to be heard. Don’t shrink to make others comfortable. Don’t wait until everything’s “perfect.” Authority is built through consistent action, not flawless execution.

In Closing: You Already Have What It Takes

Sis, building industry authority isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about owning who you are, publicly and unapologetically. The more you show up with clarity, teach with confidence, and lead with integrity, the more your audience will see you as the trusted voice in your space.

And if you’re ready to level up your presence, from your messaging to your systems, that’s exactly what we do here at Letters by Reesi.
