Distinguishing Between Necessity and Excess

Necessity and Excess

In the fast-paced whirlwind of life, it’s easy to get swept up in the frenzy, losing sight of what truly matters. For a better life, it is very necessary to distinguishing between necessity and excess.

We must pause and reflect: Are our actions aligned with our goals and values, or are we veering into a realm of unnecessary complexity and stress? In this blog, I am going to show you how to navigate this world without losing your mind!

Remain in Charge

Necessity and Excess

The first thing I want to do is remind you that you are fully in charge of your life and business. The best thing about Yah is that he gave us the will and the freedom to choose to obey him or disobey him.

Every day, we live within the constructs that he built with consequences and rewards. Perhaps you needed that reminder because you’re rushing through life, not taking a step back to decide: Is this really necessary?

Ask Yourself What You Need to Reach Your Goal

There are prerequisites to determining if a series of actions are necessary or not and the most important one is revisiting the goal, the purpose, and the giver of the goal. Everything is not a divine assignment, but it is a goal, and that is okay.

You may aim to make some extra money to buy something you want, get out of debt, or achieve a non-monetary goal that is equally satisfying. It doesn’t have to be a God thing to be viable; it just shouldn’t take precedence over Yah’s plan because doing so can be dangerous for your mental and spiritual health. Unsubmitted desires have unhealthy mandates causing us to accumulate spiritual, physical, and or mental excess which is exactly what we need to get rid of!

We must learn to move strategically in all things while prioritizing Yah’s assignments over our own. There’s beauty in approaching “ambition” in this way mainly because you can’t rush God. Seriously, have you ever tried to rush God? I have a few times and I’ve failed miserably.

When I prioritize his assignment for me as the main priority and manage my own desires that are NOT against his will I find myself in a pace that can only be described with words like peaceful, meaningful, and an entire vibe. It’s not all about achieving the goal, it’s really about achieving it in a way that doesn’t require a recovery after. If you consider yourself a daughter of God, I challenge you to get clear on God’s divine assignment for your life and for this season, as they can differ yet complement one another.

Get Rid of Excess

Necessity and Excess

With all of this being said, I think you’re ready to answer the question: Is all of this necessary? Many of us will find that the answer is no. There are people that you no longer need and they no longer benefit your stride to honor God.

There are places and environments that once were beneficial that no longer hold that title and there are business goals, pursuits, and strategies that are simply EXTRA, STRESSFUL & UNNECESSARY.

This is why journaling and documenting your thoughts, efforts, and experiences are so important. “Success habits” and or “goal killers” are easy to spot and eliminate when you track your progress in every area of your life. The shedding season is upon us and I urge you to get a head start on clearing out excess before you are forced to do so by unpleasant experiences or lessons.

So How Do You Actually Practice this Shedding Concept?

Well, there are many ways that it can be done. All I can do is share some tips with you that have helped me over the years.

Isolate the problem areas– Nowadays I like to separate my personal expression from my spiritual and business journaling time. Mainly because I experience issues in more than one area at the same time and they require different solutions.

Don’t lose sight of where you want to go — Consistently schedule time to express what is working and what is not with an end goal in mind. Is the goal to clear your head? How do you define having a clear head? Is the goal to gain clarity on direction? What about deciding if someone or something is in the Father’s will? No matter what it is, define what chaos is and what “nirvana” looks like as it relates to the problem areas in your life.

Be Patient- We live in a weird era where people have convinced themselves that they are in control of “making things happen”. Here’s my take on all of this manifesting and “I control everything mindset”..it’s simply not true. Especially for Bible believers…if you control everything why don’t you pray to yourself? We must keep reverence for Yah and his power and be patient for the solutions that he WILL reveal to us in due time “if we faint not”!

Keep moving– Don’t park here. Keep moving forward, do what you KNOW you can do, and leave the rest to God. Whatever is unclear, put a hypothetical pin in it and wait for the final verdict. Whatever sticks out to you as EXCESS, TOXIC, BAGGAGE, BURDENSOME lay it down suddenly and walk away from it. These things can be dropped if you have the faith to do so.

Bottom Line

All in all, this is the time to determine: What’s working, what’s not and what do we do about it.
